RICHARD ILES QUINTET
Thursday 13th November
Davenham
Players Theatre,
Church Street, Davenham, Northwich
8.00pm - £5.00 (£4.00 concessions)
Richard Iles (trumpet), Mike Walker (guitar), Richard Wetherall (piano), Pete Turner (bass) and Eryl Roberts (drums).
The band will be performing a new group of compositions to feature the extraordinary talents of Mike Walker, highlighting the many facets of his playing and the uniqueness of his approach to music. The electric sound of '70s Miles Davis is well to the fore, with Mike electrifying the stage as only he knows how.
Also included in the set will be excerpts from New Futures, the suite mjf commissioned in 2000, revised for this ensemble, Richard's regular working small band, which is also the backbone of the Miniature Brass Emporium - the jazz orchestra which performed at last year's closing event.
"It was astonishing how good the music was Iles is always eloquent and melodic - as a trumpet player he seems deep in the debt of Miles - and his arrangements are always free of clutter" - City Life
